Decades of music. One legendary sound.

MEET SOUTHERN LEGENDS.

Southern Legends brings together two seasoned musicians whose careers have taken them from Nashville studios and national tours to stages alongside some of the most recognizable names in American music. Based in Daytona Beach, Florida and led by RC Richards and The Marksman, the duo blends Classic Rock, Country, Southern Rock and original music into a live show built on musicianship, personality and decades of experience.

Together, they’re carrying a lifetime of stories, songs and influences into a new chapter, creating the kind of live music that feels familiar while still unmistakably their own.

Two musicians. The sound of a full band. Southern Legends developed a performance setup that combines RC and The Marksman playing and singing live with carefully built computer backing tracks that fill out the rest of the arrangement. The result gives venues the energy and fuller sound of a band while booking just two live performers, making the show a flexible fit for rooms and budgets where a larger group may not be practical.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, RC Richards moved to Nashville at 25 to further his musical education and immerse himself in the heart of the music industry. As a vocalist and harmonica player, his career has included opening for Alabama and George Jones, briefly performing with Atlanta, and working with artists including Milton Bullock of The Platters, The Drifters, The Temptations and The Esquires.

While in Nashville, RC collaborated with producer Andy Anderson of Blue Ridge Music and formed Guns for Hire with drummer Marc Greenwood, son of country artist Lee Greenwood. He later toured extensively across the United States promoting his debut CD, RC Richards: Left of Center, released through RCR Records.

His career has also extended into radio and live events, including work and appearances with WRMX in Nashville and WKLH in Milwaukee. Performances included Nashville’s Summer Lights and the Tennessee Air Show, where he opened for Sha Na Na. His musical endeavors have also included sponsorships from Miller Beer, Harley-Davidson and Crown Music.

Those decades of performing, touring and working within the music industry now shape the voice and stage presence he brings to Southern Legends.

A Florida native, The Marksman began playing guitar in 1978 while serving in the Navy. What started with Classic Rock and Folk expanded into bass guitar, sound engineering, songwriting, production and a career that would eventually take him throughout the country.

In 1987, he began working with singer-songwriter Jim Frazier, writing and producing original Country music. After opening for The Oak Ridge Boys in 1988, he moved to Nashville and began working with producer Andy Anderson at Blue Ridge Music, beginning a longtime collaboration that included album production, studio development, song charting, artist development and live performance.

In 1991, The Marksman joined a national tour with recording artist David Frizzell, performing on bass while also serving as a sound engineer. He later performed with the Florida Cats at Groove Fest in 1994. Beginning in 2000, he spent three years touring Colorado with the Southern Cactus Band and co-produced the group’s first album with Anderson.

In 2004, he and Anderson joined Troy Ledford and John Townley to create the televised Music Factory in Lebanon, Tennessee, where The Marksman worked as stage manager, lead cameraman and co-producer. He later co-produced an album for Patrick Gibson and toured with him for three years, opening for Ronnie Milsap, Sawyer Brown, John Anderson and Little Texas. His broader career has also included work with Little Jimmy Dickens, Rare Earth, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Survivor and Firefall.

Today, The Marksman brings that experience to Southern Legends as a guitarist, bassist, vocalist, songwriter, producer and sound engineer.

A new chapter

WHERE TWO MUSICAL JOURNEYS MEET.

RC Richards and The Marksman combine their individual backgrounds into a sound rooted in Classic Rock, Country and Southern Rock, alongside original material. Both musicians still perform live on stage, while their custom computer music tracks supply additional instrumental parts and arrangements behind them. It is the idea at the heart of Southern Legends: two seasoned live performers delivering the impact and fuller sound audiences associate with a whole band, without requiring a venue to book and pay a larger lineup. Their performances are built around decades of experience, genuine chemistry and the shared belief that great live music should bring people together.
